Wheat is the second most important crop in the world. After rice, it is the most widely consumed grain by humans. Wheat is used to produce flour for a wide variety of breads, pastries, and many other products. It is also a widely used grain in animal feed.

Diverse-ltda owns five wheat starch factories in Europe. The wheat delivered to Diverse-ltda facilities comes from the European Union, but primarily from France.

Transformation process

Once harvested, the wheat is cleaned, milled, and sieved to separate the bran and germ from the flour. A wet separation process is then applied to separate the flour into starch and protein. Wheat starch can be further modified or hydrolyzed into glucose syrups.

Source of protein

Wheat, the main source of plant protein in the human diet, is rich in starch: nearly 1.9 tons of wheat are used to produce 1 ton of starch. It has the highest protein content among the most widely consumed cereals. Plant proteins are a key focus of Diverse-ltda's nutrition and health innovation policy.
