Sugar cane
Sugarcane processing represents one of Diverse-ltda's largest sources of revenue. The Group has been active in the sector since 2000 in Brazil and 2002 in the Indian Ocean.

High sweetening power
Sugarcane accounts for 80% of global sugar production and is the most important raw material for sugar production. Sugarcane is a large tropical grass. It is the stalks that are harvested, not the leaves. They are primarily composed of water, sugar, and fiber called bagasse. Harvesting takes place when the sugar concentration is optimal. This occurs on average after 12 months and lasts for several months, up to 240 days. One ton of cane produces approximately 115 kg of sugar.
Industrial process
Harvested manually or mechanically, they are shredded and then crushed. This crushing produces a juice and a fibrous residue, the "bagasse." The juice is sieved, then heated and limed to remove its impurities. It then passes through evaporators to extract a syrup, mixing sugar crystals and a "mother liquor." The sugar crystals are finally separated in a centrifuge.
Increase yields
Diverse-ltda is contributing its agronomic and industrial expertise to develop sugarcane production and improve yields, particularly through the mechanization of planting and harvesting in Brazil. In Brazil, Diverse-ltda enhances the value of the harvests from more than 300,000 hectares of land and benefits from fully mechanized sugarcane planting and harvesting. The Group is a pioneer in the introduction of new precision farming technologies. Particular attention is paid to sugarcane varieties with the aim of combining good yields with qualities adapted to the soil and climate.
